Family having social gathering

To Parents and Guardians:

In addressing parent, our volunteers, community, and school concerns, the Conversation Station will be implementing new safety rules starting the 2011-2012 school year.

The Conversation Station’s purpose is to provide a safe and fun place for your children to hang out after school.  This includes a beverage and snack, crafts, and activities at no charge.

·         Our Adult Volunteers give supervision; encourage positive behavior and discussions while they are inside our building.

·         We ALWAYS prefer that the children remain in the building once they enter.   However, since the Conversation Station is a drop-in youth community center and not a latchkey or daycare facility, we do not restrict members from leaving.

·         We believe it is a decision between the parent and child whether they are permitted to leave the Conversation Station.  However, parents can email us at CSInfo@ConversationStation.org or call at any time at 440-437-5442 to check their child’s attendance patterns.

·         Beginning this school year, members will be required to not only sign in their name as usual, but time of arrival.

 ·         If leaving the building, members will now be required to notify an adult volunteer, sign-out the time of departure and get a wristband acknowledging that they are leaving.   The kids cannot re-enter the building without the wristband.

 ·         Members cannot re-enter the Conversation Station if they leave a second time.

  • Parents will be contacted by telephone or by mail, if their child regularly has a pattern of leaving for long periods of time or "drops and goes" .

 ·         There will be no loitering in front of the Conversation Station or any other buildings or grass area connected to or by  the Conversation Station.   The Village Police will be contacted if these violations occur.

If your child is absent from school, they are not permitted to come to the Conversation Station that day.
